BASIS honours top IT exporters of fiscal year 2024–25
The progress, achievements, and future roadmap of Bangladesh's information technology export sector were highlighted at BASIS IT Exporters' Night 2026, held on 27 January 2026 at a leading hotel in the capital.
The event was organised by the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) in collaboration with the Business Promotion Bureau, bringing together IT and IT-enabled services exporters, policymakers, entrepreneurs, diplomats, and industry leaders.
The programme reflected on the 28-year journey of Bangladesh's IT export sector, showcased its global reach, and outlined strategic priorities for the coming years.
At the event, BASIS honoured the top 10 IT and ITES exporting companies of FY 2024–25 for their contribution to export earnings. The award recipients were BJIT Ltd, Brain Station 23 Ltd, ULKASEMI Private Ltd, SELISE Digital Platforms, Cefalo Bangladesh Ltd, Samsung R&D Institute Bangladesh Ltd, Enosis Solutions, Therap (BD) Ltd, Radiant Data Systems Ltd, and Data Path Ltd. These companies provide high-value services in software development, artificial intelligence, research and development, fintech, healthtech, and other advanced technology areas.
Speakers noted that BASIS member companies currently export software and IT services to more than 104 countries. In FY 2024–25, nearly 500 BASIS member companies were involved in export activities, of which around 300 were regular exporters. The United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Canada remain the top export destinations.
A panel discussion focused on the prospects and challenges of IT exports for economic diversification. The panel featured Julian Andrin Weber, Managing Director of SELISE Bangladesh Ltd; Raisul Kabir, Chief Executive Officer of Brain Station 23 PLC; Ferdous Mahmud Shaon, Managing Director of Cefalo Bangladesh Ltd; and Morikawa Yuko, Senior Representative of JICA Bangladesh. The session was moderated by Mushfiqur Rahman and Rashed Kamal, members of the BASIS Associate Committee.
At the opening session, Mustafa Rafiqul Islam Duke, Founding Member of BASIS and Member of the BASIS Associate Committee, said BASIS began with a vision to position Bangladesh's IT sector globally, which has now materialised. He said the event marked a milestone to reflect on past achievements and commit to shaping the future of the sector.
Rowshan Kamal James, Convener of BASIS IT Exporters' Night 2026 and Member of the BASIS Associate Committee, said Bangladesh's IT and ITES sector has entered a phase of tangible success. He said the event aimed to recognise top exporters and highlight success stories to inspire new entrepreneurs and emerging firms.
Speaking as chief guest, Secretary of the ICT Division Haider Chowdhury, ndc, said the IT and ITES sector has emerged as a key driver of the economy, supported by skilled professionals, entrepreneurial innovation, and government policy support. He said the government continues to prioritise IT exports through incentives, skills development, and access to global markets.
In his remarks as chair, Joint Secretary of the Local Government Division and BASIS Administrator Abul Khair Mohammad Hafizullah Khan said BASIS membership has grown from 18 companies to more than 2,700, with members driving the country's IT export success. He said cash incentives, tax benefits, human capital development, and international market access would shape the sector's next growth phase.
The event also featured remarks from Dr Md Razzaqul Islam, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Director (Export Wing) of the Business Promotion Council; Gayle Martin, Operations Manager for Bangladesh and Bhutan at the World Bank; and Syed Mahbubur Rahman, Managing Director and CEO of Mutual Trust Bank PLC.
