Bangladesh Krishi Bank inaugurates tree plantation programme

A tree plantation programme was launched nationwide on 6 August 2025 to mark the 'July Revolution' and 'Youth Festival 2025', involving government and specialised banks and financial institutions under the Financial Institutions Division.
The central event was held at the Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) Staff College in Mirpur, where Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, Economic Adviser and Adviser (in charge) to the Ministry of Science and Technology, attended as the chief guest.
In his speech, Dr Salehuddin said BKB had been implementing government policies by disbursing low-interest loans across most sectors, playing a crucial role in achieving the country's food self-sufficiency.
Dr Mohammad Zahid Hossain, chairman of BKB's board of directors, presided over the programme. Nazma Mobarek, secretary of the Financial Institutions Division under the Ministry of Finance, attended as a special guest. She said BKB had been making a significant contribution to agricultural development and the implementation of government policies through its 1,038 branches.
Other participants included BKB's managing director, board directors, deputy managing directors, general managers, and representatives of the Bangladesh Krishi Bank Employees Union (CBA).
All BKB offices and branches across the country joined the event virtually and took part in the tree plantation programme.
