Bangladesh appoints new ambassador in Comoros

H E Dr Zokey Ahad, the new non-resident Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Union of the Comoros, has formally presented his credentials to President Azali Assoumani at the State House in Moroni, marking the start of his term and signalling a commitment to advancing Bangladesh-Comoros relations.
The president welcomed Dr Ahad, congratulated him, and extended good wishes to the Hon'ble President and Chief Adviser of the interim government of Bangladesh. He reaffirmed Comoros' commitment to stronger ties with Bangladesh.
Dr Ahad, emphasising Bangladesh's intention to deepen bilateral cooperation, delivered greetings from Bangladesh's leadership and thanked the Comoros government for its warm welcome. He highlighted his priority to strengthen ties in areas such as trade, investment, manpower recruitment, education, and agriculture.
The ambassador briefed the president on Bangladesh's sectoral achievements and requested that Comoros consider recruiting Bangladeshi professionals in the fields of light engineering, healthcare, and agriculture.
Both sides looked forward to exploring new areas of cooperation, including climate change and Sustainable Development Goals. Dr Ahad invited President Assoumani to visit Dhaka on behalf of Bangladesh's president.
Reinforcing his diplomatic agenda, Dr Ahad paid a courtesy call on Oumouri Mmadi Hassani, the acting Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Comoros, to discuss the breadth of bilateral relations between the two countries.
Dr Ahad, a career diplomat from the 17th batch of the BCS (Foreign Affairs) cadre, joined the Bangladesh Mission in Port Louis, Mauritius, on June 9, 2024. He has served in missions in Beijing, The Hague, Manchester, Kolkata, and Kunming.
