IUB alumni named in Bangladesh futsal team for afc qualifiers

IUB alumni Intishar Mostafa Chowdhury and Foayej Ahammed Peash have been selected for the 14-member Bangladesh National Futsal Team for the upcoming AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers in Malaysia. Intishar is also the Vice Captain.
The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) organised a three-phase national trial process, starting with over 630 participants, to select the squad. Intishar, from the Department of Media and Communication, will play as a midfielder, while Peash, from the Department of Finance, plays as a forward.
The squad will make Bangladesh's debut appearance at the continental qualifiers, scheduled for 16–24 September 2025 in Malaysia. The organisers have drawn Bangladesh in Group G alongside Iran, Malaysia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Building on their training under the IUB Football Club, both players have competed in national and international tournaments, including the Bangladesh Futsal Premier League, Corporate Premier League, and the Manchester City Corporate Cup at Etihad Stadium in 2024.
"Our selection reflects years of training and competitive experience at both university and corporate levels," said Intishar.
Peash added, "IUB played a big role in our journey. From grooming us through the Football Club to giving us access to tournaments and facilities, the support made a real difference."
Congratulating the duo, IUB Vice Chancellor Professor M Tamim said, "This achievement speaks volumes about their dedication and hard work. At IUB, education goes beyond the classroom — it's about nurturing students' talents and preparing them for the future."
The AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026, organised by the Asian Football Confederation, will serve as the qualifier for the FIFA Futsal World Cup.
