Pakistan delegation visits Bangladesh to discuss cement cooperation

A high-level delegation from Pakistan recently visited Bangladesh to explore cooperation in the cement sector, with discussions centring on trade, investment, and technology exchange in cement manufacturing and imports.
The dialogue brought together government representatives, trade associations, and leading cement manufacturers from both countries.
From Bangladesh, participants included Md Amirul Haque, President of Bangladesh Cement Manufacturers Association (BCMA) and Managing Director of Premier Cement Mills PLC; Mostafa Kamal, former BCMA President and Chairman of Meghna Group of Industries; Imran Karim, First Vice President, BCMA; Mashiur Rahman, Treasurer, BCMA; Abhimanyu Saha, Executive Committee Member, BCMA; and Shankar Kumar Roy, Executive Director, BCMA.
From Pakistan, the delegates included Engineer Aurangzeb Khan of Noman Khattak Mines and Minerals, Farrukh Iqbal, proprietor of Nadeem Enterprises, Tamoor Akbar, Managing Director of Khadim Industry, Iftikhar A Awan, Head of Business Development at KNK (Pvt) Ltd., and Nabeel Ahmed, proprietor of Nabeel Marble.
Key areas of discussion were:
- Import of Pakistani raw materials for Bangladesh's cement industry.
- Joint ventures and investment opportunities in cement manufacturing.
- Technology transfer and skills development for improved efficiency.
- Streamlining trade procedures to reduce costs and strengthen supply chains.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral economic ties and agreed to form a joint working group to follow up on the proposals.
