Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation holds scientific workshop
A "Scientific Workshop 2025" was held in Dhaka as part of a pilot research project implemented by the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) to improve the country's irrigation water management and develop a web-based agricultural information system.
The workshop took place on 2 December 2025 at the BARC auditorium in Farmgate.
BADC Chairman Md Ruhul Amin Khan attended as chief guest. Engineers from various levels of the organisation, department and wing heads at the headquarters, and representatives from the University of Cologne, Germany, participated in the event.
In his remarks, the BADC Chairman stated that agricultural management has made continuous contributions to the country's overall development, with farmers remaining the backbone of this system. He noted that BADC is working to deliver essential agricultural inputs to farmers at their doorstep through government support mechanisms.
He further stated that efficient irrigation management is a key determinant of higher crop production, adding that research is essential to improve such systems.
He emphasised that the project's research activities are playing an important role in identifying strategies for ensuring sustainable food security.
