BADC urged to strengthen agricultural development

The Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) continues to make strides in improving agricultural irrigation and management practices, as demonstrated by the ongoing project titled "Irrigation Development through Surface Water in the Districts of Pabna, Natore, and Sirajganj".
As part of the project's ongoing efforts, a training programme focused on E-GP and PPR skills for engineers and officials was held from May 4 to May 8, 2025, at the Pabna-based Satch Bhavan, the project's main office. The session aimed to enhance the skills and capabilities of those directly involved in implementing the project.
Project Director Mahmud Hasan Khan provided a brief overview of the project, highlighting its historical significance in enhancing the region's agricultural irrigation and water management systems since its inception in 1998.
During the closing session of the training, BADC Chairman, Mohammad Ruhul Amin Khan (Grade-1), virtually addressed the participants, emphasising BADC's commitment to advancing agriculture and improving farmers' livelihoods. He stated, "BADC focuses on supporting farmers and contributing to the agricultural sector's growth. We are a farmer-friendly organisation, and our mission is to enhance the well-being of farmers through sustainable initiatives."
Chairman Khan referred to the Panasir project as one of the most significant ongoing projects under BADC's purview. The project has already yielded substantial benefits for farmers, with improvements in irrigation systems directly enhancing agricultural productivity. He urged the officials to continue their work with integrity, emphasising the need for transparency and accountability in all aspects of the project. Khan concluded by calling for BADC's efforts to be further strengthened to reach new milestones in supporting the agricultural sector.
