Air Astra extends IATA safety certification until 2027
Air Astra, Bangladesh's youngest airline, has again been recognised for its dedication to safety by successfully completing its second IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) in June 2025, thereby extending its IOSA registration until 24 August 2027.
Developed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), IOSA is the internationally recognised benchmark for assessing airlines' operational management and safety control systems. Air Astra first received its IOSA certification in 2024, less than two years after commencing commercial operations.
"The safety of our passengers has always been at the heart of our mission," said Imran Asif, Chief Executive Officer of Air Astra. "We adopted IOSA standards prior to launching operations to ensure the highest standards of safety and compliance. This re-certification underscores our ongoing commitment to providing a safe, secure and reliable travel experience for all passengers."
The June 2025 audit was conducted by IATA-accredited auditors in line with international safety protocols. Over the past decade, IOSA has become the leading global standard for airline operational safety.
Air Astra currently operates 14 daily flights from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar, Chattogram, Saidpur and Sylhet with a fleet of four ATR 72-600 aircraft, widely regarded as among the safest and most modern turboprop models in their class.
