AAUB team reaches final of CanSat 2025 in USA

The American Astronautical Society (AAS) has organised the 20th annual student design-build-launch CanSat competition, where Team Ababil from AAUB will participate in the final launch event scheduled from June 5 to 9, 2025, in Virginia, USA.
The team is expected to depart Dhaka on June 2, 2025.
In the aerospace research landscape of Bangladesh, the CanSat 2025 is a one-of-a-kind initiative of AAUB. The project began its journey in December 2024, with a dedicated team of students embarking on an ambitious mission to design, build, and launch Bangladesh's first-ever CanSat—a mini satellite the size of a soda can—for the prestigious international CanSat competition. Team Ababil completed the Preliminary Design Review phase, scoring an impressive 98.2% and ranking 6th globally. They subsequently advanced through the Critical Design Review and submitted detailed environmental testing reports to demonstrate the CanSat's readiness for real-world conditions. These phases validated the reliability of key systems of the CanSat, including autonomous descent control, sensor integration, payload deployment, and telemetry. With all major design and testing milestones completed, Team Ababil is now in the final phase to test the CanSat's full operational capability under live conditions. It is mentioned that the success of Team Ababil thus far is deeply rooted in the collective leadership, encouragement and guidance of the Respected Vice Chancellor and dedicated faculty members, whose unwavering support played a vital role in the team's technical development.
As Team Ababil prepares to represent Bangladesh on the global stage this June, AAUB reaffirms its commitment to advancing aerospace education and fostering student-led innovation. This project is more than a competition entry — it is a landmark step toward establishing Bangladesh as a player in space technology and exploration. It is worth mentioning that GoldHill Alliance, Sincos Automation Technology Ltd, Square Informatix Ltd, MDM Traders Ltd, and ZSRM provided instrumental support in funding the team's participation in this international competition.
