11th Bangladesh Junior Science Olympiad opens in Khulna and Rajshahi

Thousands of school and college students gathered today in Khulna and Rajshahi as the Bangladesh Junior Science Olympiad (BdJSO 2025) launched its regional rounds, featuring examinations, science talks, and prize-givings.
This year's Olympiad is title-sponsored by Al-Arafah Islami Bank.
Building on this momentum, an online screening round on 6 August shortlisted candidates for the in-person regionals. According to the organisers, a record 17,000+ students participated across both online and offline phases, following outreach and preparatory workshops held in over 50 districts.
- In Rajshahi, excitement filled the halls as students gathered at the Rajshahi Education Board Government Model School & College from 8:30 am, tackling the written test before engaging in lively Q&A sessions with academics and education leaders.
- Khulna's regional round was launched at 9:00 am, drawing the attention of local leaders from the administration, banking, and education sectors. After demonstrating their science prowess in a competitive paper, students engaged in dynamic discussions with university faculty during an interactive forum.
Throughout both centres, speakers encouraged students to pursue curiosity-driven learning and hands-on science. In Khulna, awards were presented to winners in the 12 (Primary), 22 (Junior), and 27 (Secondary) categories; meanwhile, regional toppers in Rajshahi were also recognized with medals and certificates.
Regional champions now set their sights on the National Round in Dhaka, determined to go the distance. Approximately 60 outstanding students will participate in the high-profile BdJSO Camp, where they will undergo intensive training and rigorous selection. The top six performers will proudly represent Bangladesh at the 22nd International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) in Russia in December 2025.
The Olympiad is organised by the Bangladesh Society for the Popularisation of Science in collaboration with the Bangladesh STEM Foundation, with Al-Arafah Islami Bank as the title sponsor.
