Tarique’s arrival: Visitor entry to be restricted for 24 hours at Dhaka airport
According to a press release, only ticketed passengers will be allowed to enter the airport area from 6pm on 24 December to 6pm on 25 December. During this period, the entry of all accompanying persons and visitors will be strictly prohibited.
Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) authorities have announced a temporary restriction on visitor entry into the airport premises for 24 hours, citing operational and security considerations.
The move comes ahead of Tarique Rahman's arrival in the country on 25 December.
According to a press release, only ticketed passengers will be allowed to enter the airport area from 6pm on 24 December to 6pm on 25 December. During this period, the entry of all accompanying persons and visitors will be strictly prohibited.
Airport authorities have urged passengers and all concerned to cooperate with the directive in the interest of safety and efficient airport operations.
Meanwhile, the national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines has also issued an advisory for passengers.
According to information received from various media outlets, there is a possibility of a large public gathering on 25 December 2025 in the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport area, on the roads from the airport to Gulshan, and on the Purbachal Expressway (300 Feet Road), which may result in severe traffic congestion.
In this situation, all passengers of Biman Bangladesh Airlines on both domestic and international routes are specially requested to set out for the airport well in advance on that date, reads a press release.
