The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has come up with a 10-point guideline to assist its officials discharge their duties during the ongoing nationwide shutdown.

DMP Commissioner Shafiqul Islam on Saturday sent the directives to the additional, deputy and assistant police commissioners of Dhaka, said senior DMP officials.

Customers should be advised to take the food to their homes. In some cases, they may be allowed to eat there by keeping social distance.

Shops of essential commodities should remain open and their staff must also be allowed to work, the guidelines read.

Individual movement in any form should also be allowed, but the people should be given appropriate health advice.

Police should take special care of people who provide emergency services. Police must maintain social distance while on duty, the DMP commissioner added.

Law enforcers are expected to behave professionally in every interaction.
