DMP bans gatherings in front of CJ’s residence, SC and ICT gates

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today (12 August) issued a public notice prohibiting all kinds of rallies, gatherings, processions, human chains, sit-ins, and marches in front of the chief justice's official residence, Judges' Complex, the main gate of the Supreme Court, and the entry gates of International Crimes Tribunals (ICT) 1 and 2.
The restriction, issued under the DMP ordinance, aimed at maintaining public order, will come into effect tomorrow (13 August), and will remain in force until further notice, according to a DMP notice signed by DMP Commissioner Sazzat Ali.
The ban will also apply in front of Bicharpati Bhaban, SC's Mazar Gate, Jame Mosque Gate, and the Judicial Administration Training Institute building, read the notice.
"Furthermore, all concerned are requested to refrain from blocking roads in the name of protests or demands, thereby disrupting traffic movement," it added.
