Rejected at home, escapee Covid-19 patient returns to isolation centre

A Covid-19 patient, who had escaped from an institutional isolation centre of Brahmanbaria Nursing Institute, returned to the centre after being rejected by his family members at home.
Kefayet Ullah, 38, a resident of Tighar village in Sarail upazila, returned to the isolation centre voluntarily on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
Citing Kefayet, isolation officials said, "He said he left the isolation centre 'unknowingly' on Sunday. But after going home, the family members did not let him stay there."

"He wandered in the park for two days. He claimed to maintain social distancing during the time. Unable to find a place at home, he returned to the isolation centre on Tuesday afternoon," they added.
Inzamamul Haque Siam, a doctor on duty at the Institutional Isolation Centre of the Brahmanbaria Nursing Institute, said, "Samples of people who came in contact with him will be collected. As per the rules, he has been re-admitted to the isolation centre."
Earlier, seven people were released on Sunday from the isolation centre after they recovered from Covid-19. Kefayet left with those seven.
The centre authorities made a general diary at the police station over the incident.
