Drug case accused escapes from Khulna Medical’s prison cell
Yusuf was arrested yesterday afternoon with 20 pieces of Yaba

A young man arrested in a drug case has escaped from the prison cell at Khulna Medical College Hospital, creating a stir early this (7 August) morning.
The escapee, Yusuf, 23, is the son of Shahjahan Hawladar from the Khalishpur area of Khulna city
He was arrested yesterday afternoon with 20 pieces of Yaba by the policemen of the Khalishpur Police Station.
A case was filed against him later that night under the Narcotics Control Act.
Police said Yusuf was taken to the hospital's emergency department after he complained of chest pain. Following a doctor's recommendation, he was admitted to the medicine ward and placed in a designated prison cell.
According to Sub Inspector Shamim Reza, who was in-charge of the prison cell, the escape occurred at around 3:30am when the duty constable, Rabbi Ali, unlocked the cell for another elderly inmate, mistakenly failed to lock it again.
"It was later discovered that the outer gate was also left unlocked, allowing Yusuf to escape easily," he said.
Khulna Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (South) Md Abu Taleb stated that both policemen inside and outside the cell were responsible for the negligence.
He confirmed that an investigation has been launched and action will be taken against those found to be at fault.
