Hajj registration deadline again extended till April 16

The registration date was extended till March 15 and later for the second time till April 8

The government has extended the deadline of hajj registration for the third time until April 16 this year considering the outbreak of coronavirus or COVID-19 across the globe.

Hajj registration started on March 2. As there is an uncertainty occurred due to the novel coronavirus outbreak, initially, the registration date was extended till March 15 and later for the second time till April 8, reported Somoy TV.

Pilgrims will have to pay Tk151,990 for registration under private management, said Religious Affairs Minister Sheikh Md Abdullah said adding that no additional charges will be allowed.

Earlier on February 24, the cabinet approved the draft Hajj Package-2020, fixing the minimum cost for an intending pilgrim at Tk 3.15 lakh under package-3 managed by the government.

This year, 1,37,198 people are scheduled go to Saudi Arabia to perform hajj -- 17,198 of them under government management.
