Five Covid-19 patients die at RMCH

Seven people including five Covid-19 patients have died at the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on Tuesday.

RMCH Director, Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani, said "The patients of hospital's intensive care unit (ICU) and Covid-19 unit, have died in past 24 hours until Tuesday afternoon."

Among the deceased, three hailed from Chapainawabganj, two from Naogaon and one each from Rajshahi and Natore.

Meanwhile, thirty people were admitted to the RMCH corona unit today. Among them, eighteen came from Chapainawabganj, ten from Rajshahi and two from Natore.

A total of 216 patients are taking treatment at the Covid unit and ICU of RMCH currently and among them 91 are Covid-19 positive, Shamim Yazdani said.

Currently, around sixteen people are being treated at the ICU of the hospital's Covid facility. In the last eight days, 62 people have died including 32 Covid-19 patients and others with symptoms at RMCH.

According to a report signed by Rajshahi Divisional Director of Health Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, 382 people have tested Covid-19 positive while 64 recovered in the last 24-hours in the Rajshahi division,

Meanwhile, both the new cases and the fatalities of Covid-19 took an upward trend on Tuesday with 41 more deaths and 1,765 new cases in the last 24 hours across the country. 

With today's figures, the death toll reached 12,660 and the caseload stood at 8,02,305, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
