Covid-19 claims 24 more lives in Bangladesh
2,159 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours till Wednesday 8am

Bangladesh on Wednesday reported 24 more deaths from the novel coronavirus.
The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 6,930, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the last 24 hours till Wednesday 8am, 2,159 people tested positive for Covid-19, taking the number of novel coronavirus cases in the country to 484,104.
The latest day's infection rate was 12.67% of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country to date was 16.63%. The death rate stands at 1.43%.
In the meantime, 4,772 patients were declared free of Covid-19, raising the total number of recoveries to 405,966 with an 83.86% recovery rate.
Among the latest day's victims, 18 were men and six were women and all of them died at different hospitals across the country.
Moreover, 17 of them hailed from Dhaka, two each from Chattogram, Khulna, and Mymensingh, and one from Barishal division.
Meanwhile, 17,042 samples were tested in 140 labs across the country in the past 24 hours.
A total of 2911,664 samples have been tested in the country so far.
The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 5,298 of the total deceased were men and 1,632 were women.
Some 892 people were placed in quarantine in the last 24 hours. Now, 42,052 people are in quarantine across the country, reads the press release.
Around 262 Covid-19 suspected patients were taken into isolation in the last 24 hours. Now, 12,726 people are staying in different isolation units across the country.
The country's first Covid-19 cases were reported on 8 March and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
