Refusing transactions with Tk1, Tk2 coins is illegal: Bangladesh Bank

The Bangladesh Bank (BB) authorities have urged all to continue using Tk1 and Tk2 metal coins for cash transactions, stating that refusing to accept them is a violation of existing laws.
The central bank issued the clarification in a press release on Wednesday (15 October) by its Department of Communications and Publications.
The release noted that recently, people in some parts of the country have been reluctant to use Tk1 and Tk2 coins in transactions. However, it emphasised that all metal coins currently in circulation are valid, just like paper notes.
