5 more dengue patients die, 841 hospitalised in 24 hours
Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people.

The dengue crisis in Bangladesh continues to deteriorate as five more patients died and 841 were admitted to hospitals across the country in the 24 hours till Tuesday morning (14 October).
With the latest fatalities, the total number of deaths from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh has risen to 238 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Two of the new deaths were reported at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), one at Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital, one at Mugda Medical College Hospital, and one at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Three of the deceased were male, and two were female.
During this period, 841 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, bringing the total number of cases to 56,257 so far this year.
Currently, 971 patients are receiving treatment in Dhaka, while a total of 2,665 patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the country.
During the period, 125 cases were reported in Barishal Division (out of city corporation), 106 in Chattogram Division (out of city corporation), 214 in Dhaka Division (out of city corporation), 173 in Dhaka North, 128 in Dhaka South, 26 in Khulna Division (out of city corporation), 19 in Mymensingh Division (out of city corporation), 47 in Rangpur Division (out of city corporation and three in Sylhet Division (out of city corporation), reports DGHS on Tuesday.
The report also stated that, among this year's patients, 61.1% were men and 38.9% were women.
Of the deaths, 53.5% were male and 46.5% were female.
Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people.
The DGHS recorded 101,214 dengue cases and 100,040 recoveries during the same period.
