Mir Akhter profits up 17.76% in third quarter

The net profit of Mir Akhter Hossain Limited, one of the largest construction and engineering firms in the country, increased by 17.76% amid the pandemic in the third quarter of the current fiscal year.

In this quarter, the company's net profit was Tk15.51 crore, up from Tk13.21 crore during the same period a year ago.

A company official said they were able to continue the ongoing projects during this period maintaining health guidelines and that is why the pandemic could not impact their business much.

In the January to March quarter, the company's revenue was Tk99.74 crore, which was Tk96.50 crore in the same period of the previous year.

Also, during this period, its earnings per share was Tk1.47, which was Tk1.25 in the same period of the previous year.

In nine months of the fiscal year 2020-21, the company's revenue stood at Tk242.35 crore, which was Tk224.72 crore during the same period of the previous year.

Also, in this period, its net profit was Tk37.02 crore.

Until 31 March 2021, the company's retained earnings were Tk310.87 crore.

Mir Akhter Hossain was incorporated in 1980 and was listed on the Dhaka Stock Exchange in January 2021.

The current paid-up capital of the company is Tk120.77 crore.

The last trading price of its shares at the Dhaka Stock Exchange was Tk75.80 on Sunday.

Until 31 March this year, sponsors and directors jointly held 48.58% of the shares while institutional investors owned 4.29% and general investors 47.13%.
