Youth stabbed to death over financial dispute in Munshiganj
Locals informed the police after spotting his body in an abandoned plot.
A man was allegedly stabbed to death over a financial dispute in Munshiganj, with his body being found this morning (14 June).
The deceased, Arif Bepari, 30, worked as a butcher in local markets.
Locals informed the police after spotting his body in an abandoned plot next to his house in the Jasimnagar area of Munshiganj Sadar upazila.
Police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Munshiganj General Hospital for autopsy.
The victim's family alleged that Arif's younger brother, Akash, had a long-standing dispute over financial transactions with Noor Mohammed, another local butcher.
The two sides reportedly clashed at Munshirhat Bazar yesterday morning over the issue.
Family members alleged that when the attackers failed to find Akash, they targeted Arif instead and stabbed him to death.
Speaking to reporters, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Md Kamran Hossain said preliminary investigations suggest that the killing may have been linked to the financial dispute.
"The body bears multiple stab wounds. It has been sent for post-mortem examination, and legal action is underway," the police official said.
Police are investigating the incident and working to identify those involved, he added.
