WB delegation meets Jamaat Ameer to discuss BD's economy, development, infrastructure
Both sides discussed the ongoing challenges in Bangladesh's economic sector, infrastructure reform, formation of a sustainable economy, the structure of the tax system, and development potential in the social sector
A delegation from the World Bank's Dhaka Regional Office, led by its Country Director, Jean-Denis Pesme, met Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman today (18 November).
The meeting was held at the Jamaat Ameer's office in the capital's Bashundhara this morning.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the ongoing challenges in Bangladesh's economic sector, infrastructure reform, formation of a sustainable economy, the structure of the tax system, and development potential in the social sector, says a press release by Jamaat-e-Islami.
The World Bank delegation included Financial Advisor Mehrin A Mahbub and Operations Manager Gaelle Martin.
Representing Jamaat at the meeting were Mizanur Rahman, former Senior Secretary, Muhammad Safiullah, and Shafiqur Rahman's foreign affairs adviser, Mahmudul Hasan.
Both parties expressed interest in further strengthening mutual dialogue on future development cooperation and reform processes.
