Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman today (24 January) called for the reflection of young voters' choices in the upcoming election while visiting the grave of Abu Sayed, one of the very first martyrs of the July Uprising, in Rangpur, reports Prothom Alo.
Shafiqur Rahman visited Abu Sayed's grave at Babanpur Jafarpura in Pirganj upazila this morning, where he offered prayers and later spoke with the martyr's family members. He paid tribute to Abu Sayed's sacrifice and expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
Speaking at the site, the Jamaat ameer said, "Insha Allah, we will continue the struggle to implement the dreams of all martyrs, including Abu Sayed. To fulfil the aspirations of the people, we want to move forward with everyone to build a Bangladesh based on justice, fairness and accountability."
Addressing young voters, he said Jamaat would work to meet their expectations if given the opportunity.
"I promise the youth, if Allah grants us the ability, we will build the Bangladesh of your expectations, Insha Allah. By handing over leadership to you, we will support you from behind with strength, courage and guidance," he said.
He also urged young voters to remain vigilant during the election process.
"Prepare yourselves and ensure that your votes are reflected in the next election. You will vote according to your choice. To ensure that no one interferes with your vote, you must once again remain alert and determined," he said, adding that he believed the youth could secure a victory for the masses.
