Voter list updating begins in Dhaka
The EC has a target to collect data of 80 lakh citizens this year.
The Election Commission has started data collection for updating the voter list of the city dwellers on Wednesday.
Md Alamgir, the EC Secretary said at a press conference on Tuesday that the activities will be conducted in all other thana areas, apart from Wari, Sutrapur and Demra thanas.
Enumerators will go door to door to collect data about prospective voters to register them.

EC sources said that first phase of the voter list updating activities was held from April 23 to May 13 in 135 upazilas.
Information of around 2,25,307 citizens have already been collected.
The EC has a target to collect data of 80 lakh citizens this year. Around 53,512 data collectors have been recruited across the country for the task.
