Trial of 6 corruption cases against Hasina, others over plot allocation moved to 2 separate courts

Six corruption cases filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over alleged irregularities in land plot allocations by the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) involving former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her family members, and several high-ranking officials, have been transferred to two separate courts in Dhaka for trial.
According to sources from the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court, the cases were reassigned today (22 July). Three cases each have been sent to Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 and Dhaka Special Judge Court-5.
The date for the charge-framing hearings has been set for 31 July.
Previously, on 20 July, Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib issued an order to reassign the cases for trial.
In addition to Sheikh Hasina, the accused include her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Putul, sister Sheikh Rehana, and Rehana's children—Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, a UK MP, Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby, and Azmina Siddiq Ruponti.
Other accused include - Former State Minister Sharif Ahmed, Former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Salahuddin, Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Shahid Ullah Khandaker, Additional Secretary (Administration) Kazi Wazi Uddin, Senior Assistant Secretary Purabi Goldar, former RAJUK Chairman Anisur Rahman Mia, former RAJUK members Md Khurshid Alam, Kobir Al Asad, Tanmay Das, Nurul Islam, Md Nasir Uddin, and Shamsuddin Ahmed Chowdhury, RAJUK Director (Estate & Land-2) Sheikh Shahinul Islam, Deputy Directors Hafizur Rahman and Habibur Rahman.
In January, the ACC filed six separate cases alleging that illegal plot allocations were made by abusing power and bypassing standard regulations. The accused include not only political figures but also bureaucrats and RAJUK officials.
The court has already accepted the charge sheets in all six cases. Arrest warrants have been issued as the accused are currently absconding, according to court sources.
