One person was killed in a road accident on the Mohanagar Bridge near the Hatirjheel Police Station.

The incident took place at around 4:30pm on Friday (17 January).

The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Afzal Hossain, 20, a car mechanic from Shibchar, Madaripur, son of Mohammad Liakat Ali.

According to his friend, Robin, while riding his motorcycle, Afzal was hit from behind by another motorcycle, causing him to fall onto the roadside pillar. He sustained severe injuries to his chest and a head injury from the fall.

Robin rushed Afzal to the Emergency Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital at 6:50 pm, where the duty doctors declared him dead.

Mohammad Faruk, Officer-in-Charge of the Dhaka Medical Police Outpost, said that the body has been sent to the hospital's morgue for an autopsy.
