Aiming to lessen the sufferings of commuters, a new train service between Dhaka and Narayanganj began today (26 March).

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Narayanganj Mohammad Jahidul Islam Miah inaugurated the train service at a ceremony in the capital.

After inaugurating the service, the DC said that from now on, eight pairs of trains will run on the Dhaka-Narayanganj route every day.

"There are 11 compartments in each train," he said, adding that a total of 1,176 passengers can travel on a train at a time.

Among others, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Narayanganj Pratyush Kumar Majumder, Divisional Railway Transport Officer Anada Kumar Paul, central working committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana Moinuddin Ahmed and convener of Narayanganj city unit of BNP Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Khan were present at the event.
