Top criminal 'Nola Kashem' arrested over killing of RAB officer in Jungle Salimpur
Following the arrest, police recovered one foreign-made pistol, six rounds of ammunition and a magazine.
Police have arrested top criminal Abul Kashem, also known as "Nola Kashem", accused in the killing of RAB-7 deputy assistant director Motaleb Hossain Bhuiyan during an arms recovery operation in the Jungle Salimpur area of Chattogram's Sitakunda on 19 January.
He was detained around 10:30pm on Wednesday (22 April) from the Salimpur-Fouzderhat area, In-Charge of Fouzderhat Police Outpost Inspector Sohel Rana confirmed.
Following the arrest, police recovered one foreign-made pistol, six rounds of ammunition and a magazine.
"He has multiple cases against him, including murder and robbery. Legal proceedings are underway," the police official added.
Sohel further said Kashem is the second-in-command of a local criminal gang and has long been involved in criminal activities in the Jungle Salimpur area.
Earlier on 19 January 2026, Motaleb was killed and three others were critically injured when armed assailants launched a coordinated attack using sharp weapons and firearms.
A case was later filed with Sitakunda Police Station against 29 named individuals, along with around 200 unidentified suspects.
