Titas Gas strengthens crackdown on illegal connections

Titas Gas carried out significant operations on 27 May 2025 in Dhaka Metro and Narayanganj, targeting illegal gas usage with unwavering resolve.

Under the vigilant leadership of Mr Milton Roy, Executive Magistrate and Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, a rigorous operation in Mohammadpur, Metro Dhaka Sales Division-5, saw the disconnection of an illegal connection at Topten Washing Factory. The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 90 feet of pipeline, a penalty collection of BDT 150,000 from the factory owner, and the removal of illegal gas distribution to about 50 households. In total, 180 double burners were disconnected, alongside the seizure of 330 feet of pipeline, 4 regulators, and 10 lock wing cock bodies — a clear message that unlawful practices will meet firm action.

Simultaneously, another decisive operation unfolded in Bor Binairchar and Bor Binairchar North Para, Araihazar, Narayanganj, led by Mr Hasibur Rahman, Senior Assistant Commissioner and Competent Executive Magistrate. Illegal distribution lines stretching approximately 3.5 kilometres were dismantled, disconnecting around 800 illicit residential gas burners and seizing 185 feet of pipeline, underscoring the commitment to ensuring fair access to energy.

Complementing these efforts, PetroBangla's 5th unit alongside Jobia-Netrokona teams conducted thorough inspections of previously disconnected gas connections, ensuring compliance and disconnecting one residential connection found in violation.

This relentless drive is part of a broader campaign, spanning from September 2024 to May 26, 2025, that has seen the disconnection of nearly 40,000 illegal gas connections across industrial, commercial, and residential sectors, the removal of nearly 87,000 burners, and the seizure of 174 kilometres of illicit pipeline.

These efforts stand as a testament to the nation's resolve to preserve resources, protect consumers, and foster an energy future grounded in legality and fairness—ensuring the flame of progress burns bright for every rightful user.
