Theft at Super Specialized Hospital: 3 arrested, stolen goods recovered

Police have arrested three suspects and recovered stolen construction materials in connection with a theft at the Super Specialized Hospital of Bangladesh Medical University at Shahbagh in Dhaka.

Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, NM Nasiruddin, said the incident took place around 6am on Tuesday (21 April) when a group of thieves stole construction materials (scraps) from the engineering section of a project at Basement-2 of the hospital using a mini truck.
Following the theft, a case was filed at Shahbagh Police Station.
Police said that after analysing CCTV footage, intelligence inputs and using technology, Al Mamun Sarker and Md Mamunur Rashid were arrested from the Super Specialized Hospital area around 7pm yesterday (22 April).
Later, Md Masum Billah was arrested from the Badda thana area around 11:30pm the same night.
Police also recovered four mini-truck loads of stolen construction scrap materials worth approximately Tk10 lakh.
During initial interrogation, the arrestees confessed to being active members of an organised theft gang and admitted to stealing scrap materials from the hospital.
Legal action against the arrestees is underway, police added.
