Tarique Rahman's pet cat Jebu gets official Facebook page
Jebu first captured public imagination earlier this year after a photograph showing the cat intensely staring at Tarique Rahman’s cellphone went viral
Jebu, the much-admired pet cat of Tarique Rahman, has officially stepped into the social media spotlight with the launch of its own Facebook page just hours ahead of the BNP acting chairperson's return to Dhaka.
The page, which carries a light-hearted and satirical tone that has already struck a chord with cat lovers online, has been confirmed as official by Saimum Parvez, special assistant to the BNP chairperson's foreign affairs committee and head of the party's content generation team (CGT).
A fluffy Siberian cat adopted by Tarique Rahman's daughter Zaima Rahman, Jebu is expected to arrive in Bangladesh on Thursday morning alongside Tarique and his family.
Jebu first captured public imagination earlier this year after a photograph showing the cat intensely staring at Tarique Rahman's cellphone went viral.
More photos soon followed, delighting social media users and sparking widespread curiosity, particularly among younger Bangladeshis and devoted cat enthusiasts.
Reflecting on Jebu's unexpected popularity, Tarique Rahman said in a BBC Bangla interview, "The cat is my daughter's. But now it has become everyone's cat. We all love and adore it."
After more than 17 years in exile, Tarique is returning to Bangladesh from London with his wife Zubaida Rahman and daughter Zaima Rahman.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG 202, carrying Tarique Rahman, his family and Jebu, is scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka between 11:45am and 11:50am on Thursday.
