Students of Chittagong University (CU) have unlocked the main gate of the university 10 hours after beginning a protest against the assault of a fellow student.

Students had locked the university gate soon after Sultanul Arefin, a student of the Department of Political Science from the 2022–23 academic session, was attacked near the railway crossing adjacent to the university late last night (14 April).

According to the protesters, despite immediately informing the university authorities, no action was reportedly taken.

The protest ended when the students unlocked the gate at around 11:30am today (15 April), after the university administration assured the demonstrators that action would be taken against those responsible for the attack.

Due to the protest, no vehicle was able to enter or leave the campus since last night.
