Siblings drown in pond while visiting grandparents during Eid holidays in Ctg

Two siblings drowned in a pond while visiting their grandparents' home for Eid celebrations in Lohagara upazila of Chattogram today (4 April).
The incident took place in Sukhchhari Shaira Para village, under Amirabad union around 12pm, said Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Arifur Rahman.
The deceased have been identified as Tabassum, 9, and her brother Rehan, 7, the children of Parvez, an expatriate from the Sukhchhari Kamar Dighir Par area of Amirabad union's Natun Para.
The siblings had arrived at their maternal grandparents' home in Sukhchhari Shaira Para village on the afternoon of 2 April, along with their mother, to celebrate Eid.
According to locals, the two children accompanied their mother to bathe in a nearby pond today. After finishing her bath, the mother assumed the children had already left the pond and returned home. However, upon reaching the house and not finding the children, she began searching for them.
When the search yielded no results, the family returned to the pond, where they found the children. They were quickly pulled out and rushed to the Lohagara Upazila Health Complex, but the on-duty doctor declared both children dead on arrival.
