Before being posted in Sardah, Tanvir Salehin Emon was posted as a deputy commissioner at the DMP headquarters.

SP Tanvir Salehin hails from Kishoreganj. His father is a freedom fighter Md Iqbal, former general secretary of Karimganj Upazila Awami League in Kishoreganj district.

Tanvir Salehin joined the police in 2010 under the 28th BCS police cadre. He received the IGP badge honour in 2016 and the President's Police Medal (PPM) in 2017. He was awarded the best circle officer of Cumilla District Police 27 times in his career.

He was promoted to SP in 2022. He was then given the responsibility of Deputy Police Commissioner (Headquarters and Administration) of DMP. After the fall of the Awami League government, he was posted as Police Superintendent (Basic Training-2) of the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi.

Recently there have been allegations of him issuing show-cause notices to police officers and constables undergoing training in Sardah with his signature. He was making a show cause notice on behalf of the principal of the academy.
