SAD condemns JCD’s accusations of its involvement in Primeasia uni student killing as politically motivated

The Students Against Discrimination (SAD) said they strongly protest the Jatiyobadi Chatradal's (JCD) accusations of their involvement in the recent death of one of its activists at Primeasia University.
In a statement yesterday, the SAD said, "They [JCD] are deliberately accusing the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement — the platform behind the 2024 mass uprising — of orchestrating the murder. We strongly protest this malicious political attempt."
The JCD, student wing of BNP, yesterday alleged that some 'terrorists', belonging to the SAD, were involved in the killing of one of its activists at Primeasia University on Saturday.
"Our initial investigation has revealed that several leaders of SAD were directly involved in the murder. CCTV footage clearly identifies the individuals who fatally stabbed Parvez," said JCD President Rakibul Islam Rakib.
Speaking at a press conference at the BNP's Nayapaltan Central Office, he said Jahidul Islam Parvez, a student of the textile engineering department at Primeasia University, was an active JCD member who had played an outstanding role during the July-August mass uprising.
The SAD, in its statement, offered their condolences over Parvez's death and called upon all democratic and progressive student organisations to unite in the demand for justice for his murder and for ensuring the safety of all students in educational institutions across the country.
"We firmly demand that all criminals involved in this murder be identified and brought to exemplary justice as swiftly as possible," SAD stated.
The organisation also expressed concern that the JCD engaged in a political smear campaign surrounding the killing.
"By obscuring the true cause of the murder, the real perpetrators, and the underlying context of violence on campus, they are instead focusing on politically dissecting the incident," SAD's statement further said.
"We want to state clearly that those who are seen directly attacking in the first CCTV footage have no connection whatsoever with the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement…Before any investigation concludes, we refuse to draw any premature conclusions about who was involved in the murder. Chhatra Dal, on the other hand, has already launched a misleading campaign against us and has engaged in a 'media trial' before any crime has been proven — an action that is condemnable and unacceptable," the statement reads.
It further stated that all individuals present, directly or indirectly, and regardless of organisational identity, be included within the scope of the investigation, demanding it be transparent, impartial, and evidence-based—without any political interference or pressure.
In the statement, the organisation demanded the interim government look into the safety of students on campus in the post-uprising period, recurrence of such incidents and attempts to turn educational institutions into hubs of violence.
