Prior to that, he held key management positions across several telecommunications firms, serving as chief technology officer at Wind Telecommunications in Italy and later as chief executive officer of Banglalink Digital Communications in Dhaka.

He also spent seven years as the CEO of Umniah, a leading mobile network operator in Jordan.

Riyaaz Rasheed will continue to serve as the Acting CEO and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) till Ziad assumes his position. Following the transition, Riyaaz will remain the CFO, ensuring continuity in financial leadership.

Welcoming Ziad Shatara to Robi Axiata PLC, Chairman of Robi Board Thayaparan Sangarapillai said, "Ziad is a visionary leader with a sharp strategic mindset, a customer-centric approach, and an outstanding record of building high-performing teams.

"His appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Robi, and we are confident that under his leadership, the company will strengthen its market position, drive innovation, and continue its trajectory of sustained growth and value creation. On behalf of the board and the entire Robi family, I extend a warm welcome and wish him every success."
