Rajshahi Swechchhasebak League leader’s hand tendon severed by assailants

Unidentified assailants attacked and critically injured a local Swechchhasebak League leader in Rajshahi last night (1 May), severing a tendon in his hand.
The victim, Hasan Ali, 45, is the convener of Ward-30 Swechchhasebak League in Rajshahi city and a resident of Budhpara area under Motihar police station. He was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in critical condition shortly after the incident.
The attack occurred around 11:45pm in the Budhpara area, when Hasan Ali was reportedly lured out of his house and then assaulted with sharp weapons.
Dr Shankar K Biswas, spokesperson and emergency department physician at RMCH, said, "Hasan Ali sustained deep injuries on his right cheek and two places on his right hand. The tendon in his wrist was severed. One of his ears was also cut. He is currently receiving treatment in Ward-8 of the hospital."
Motihar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Malek said, "Hasan Ali was at home during the incident. He was called out by the attackers, who then assaulted him before fleeing. His relatives later rescued him and brought him to the hospital."
"Upon receiving information, police visited the scene. An investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the attack and identify those involved. We have contacted the victim's family and asked them to file a complaint," he added.
As of Friday afternoon (2 May), no written complaint had been filed with the police.
