Khaleda to be flown out in air ambulance once medical board gives green signal
BNP chairperson’s physical condition remains unchanged. Doctors on the medical board are continuing to provide treatment in the Critical Care Unit, keeping her under constant observation
A royal air ambulance from Qatar will arrive in Dhaka as soon as the medical board overseeing BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's treatment declares her fit to fly, her adviser Enamul Haque Chowdhury said today (6 December).
"The Qatari royal ambulance will come to Bangladesh once the medical board gives its decision. They are prepared accordingly," he said.
"Whenever the board informs us, the air ambulance will arrive in Dhaka, and Madam Begum Khaleda Zia will be taken to London for advanced medical treatment. The Qatari authorities have arranged everything," he added.
Clarifying reports regarding an aircraft being brought from Germany, he said, "The Qatar authorities are arranging for a state-of-the-art air ambulance from Germany. Everything is being done under the supervision of the royal authorities for the former prime minister of Bangladesh. We have no role here."
According to him, the BNP chairperson's physical condition remains unchanged. Doctors on the medical board are continuing to provide treatment in the coronary care unit of Evercare Hospital, keeping her under constant observation.
Several physicians told TBS that the BNP chairperson has not yet gained the capacity to fly, which is why her transfer to London is being delayed.
They added that the medical board has run several tests over the past two days and is reviewing the results. Two board meetings were held yesterday, and doctors are evaluating updated medical reports on a daily basis.
