Want to see army’s clear stance and action against fascism: Sarjis
The NCP leader’s post came after army personnel summoned and questioned SAD leaders in connection with the attack and vandalism at GM Quader’s residence
Sarjis Alam, chief organiser of the National Citizen Party's (NCP) northern region, criticised the focus of the army on a vandalism and fire incident at Jatiyo Party (JaPa) Chairman GM Quader's residence in Rangpur.
In a post on his Facebook account this afternoon (1 June), Sarjis questioned the number of raids conducted in the last nine months to catch Awami League "terrorists and murderers" compared to the efforts to capture those who vandalised and torched a motorcycle at GM Quader's residence.
"We still hold the Bangladesh Army in high esteem. However, we also seek their clear stance and actions in the fight against fascism," he wrote.

The NCP leader's post came after army personnel summoned and questioned leaders of the Students Against Discrimination (SAD) and the BNP in the early hours of today in connection with the attack and vandalism at GM Quader's residence.
According to media reports, Sarjis Alam rushed to the scene upon hearing the news and spoke with Brigadier General Humayun Kaiyum, commander of the army's 72nd Infantry Brigade.
During the conversation, Brig Gen Kaiyum told Sarjis that those who disrupt public life, engage in vandalism, set fires in the name of a mob, or destroy homes will no longer be given such opportunities.
"The banned Awami League and its affiliated organisations will fail if their terrorists try to return as the Jatiyo Party's 'B Team'."
In his post, Sarjis said, "In response to the bike burning and vandalism, the Rangpur army initiated its most extensive operation in nine months, prioritising these incidents. They questioned the Metropolitan BNP's president, secretary, and convener, as well as leaders from district and metropolitan SAD groups.
"However, instead of investigating the incidents' causes or identifying the direct perpetrators, the army focused on asserting its authority over the recent events."
He further said, "The banned Awami League and its affiliated organisations will fail if their terrorists try to return as the Jatiyo Party's 'B Team'."
