Sarjis Alam campaigns through Panchagarh villages by van today

Sarjis Alam, the chief organiser (North) of the National Citizen Party (NCP), continued his campaign in Panchagarh today (25 March), focusing on direct engagement with rural communities.
Traveling by van, he spent the morning and noon visiting villages in Atwari Upazila's Aloakhoa Union, including Rakhaldevi, Bamankumar, Balia, and Lakshmitthan.
During the campaign, the NCP leader engaged with locals, visiting homes and farms while speaking with people from various professions and social backgrounds.
Sarjis posted a series of photos on his verified Facebook page today, documenting his village tour.

He wrote, "This land and its people are my roots. Returning here feels like finding peace. From walking narrow alleys to sharing stories on open benches and traveling village to village by van, these are the stories of our lives. We will continue to listen, share, and preserve them."
Addressing the concerns of farmers, Sarjis Alam wrote, "Farmers are currently selling potatoes wholesale at just Tk10 per kg in the market, while the average production cost for them is Tk20 per kg. This means they are losing almost half the value of their crops. If they could sell potatoes for at least Tk25 per kg, they would have a chance to survive.
He noted that there must be a balance between the production costs faced by farmers and the purchasing power of consumers across the country.
"The interim government must take responsibility for this. If farmers are unable to get fair prices, they will lose interest in farming, leading to a shortage of goods and a potential spike in prices," he said.
"If farmers are able to sell potatoes at a minimum of Tk25 per kg, retail prices could range between Tk30 and Tk40, which is a necessary balance for the market," Sarjis wrote.
Sarjis' today's campaign follows his arrival in his home district yesterday, his first visit since assuming leadership of NCP. He flew from Dhaka to Saidpur Airport and then proceeded to Panchagarh by road, leading a convoy of over 100 vehicles through Debiganj, Boda, Panchagarh Sadar, Tentulia, and Atwari Upazilas.
His "showdown" style has sparked political discussion and criticism.
