Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Tajul Islam Sohag recorded Samrat's statement last night, following a police application.
Later, the court ordered him to be sent to prison, Savar Police Station prosecution division Sub-Inspector Bahaz Uddin told The Business Standard.
"Savar police produced the accused before the court in the afternoon. As he voluntarily agreed to give a confessional statement, the investigation officer recorded it. The court subsequently took the confession into record and sent him to jail," Bahaz Uddin said.
According to court sources, Mashirur admitted to killing six women. He reportedly told the court that he murdered four of them out of resentment, claiming he harboured deep grudges against women he believed were involved in "immoral activities" at night.
The sources said the victims had no prior relationship with the accused. He confessed that he targeted them solely because they had approached him for such activities.
On 11 October, the body of an unidentified woman, around 30, with her throat slit, was found in a bathroom on the same floor.
Then on 19 December, another unidentified man, approximately 35, was found dead in the building.
Most recently, two unidentified, burnt bodies were recovered from the building on Sunday.
Police suspect that one of the two bodies recovered on Sunday belonged to a 13-year-old girl. The other victim is believed to be around 25 years old, though the person's gender has not yet been confirmed.
Meanwhile, Police detained Mashirur, 40, on the same night from the Muktir Mor area of Savar.
