The polling process will involve the use of ballot papers and will run from 8 am to 4 pm, as stated by the EC Secretary.

Patuakhali Deputy Commissioner will be the Returning Officer for this by-election, Md Jahangir Alam said.

When queried about a potential clash on the announcement of the 12th National Parliament election schedule in mid-November, the EC secretary clarified, "This by-election pertains to the 11th National Parliament, while the upcoming one is for the 12th National Parliament. These are distinct events, and there should be no issue."

Earlier on 21 October, Advocate Shahjahan Mia, member of parliament of Patuakhali-1 constituency and former state minister for religious affairs, passed away.
