NCP stages mass rally demanding execution of Hasina's verdict, trial of AL
The rally began at 6:30pm from the NCP’s central office in Banglamotor
The National Citizen Party (NCP) today (17 November) organised a mass rally in the capital demanding the execution of the death sentence against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina for crimes against humanity, as well as the trial of the banned Awami League.
The rally began at 6:30pm from the NCP's central office in Banglamotor and marched through several nearby streets.
Speaking after the rally, NCP Chief Coordinator Nasir Uddin Patwary said, "Those who shot our brothers and were granted state protection; this is an injustice to the people. The security adviser is visiting India. We call on the Indian government — just as you took Sheikh Hasina away, now return her to Bangladesh."
"Our struggle is not over; we will return home only after the execution of Hasina's death sentence. To the political parties, we say, no more hostility; we need unity. Our only adversary is the Awami League and its Indian backing. A new Bangladesh is possible only by reinstating the Constitution of '72," he added.
Calling on citizens, Nasir Uddin said, "Vote only for those who will implement reforms and ensure justice. We want a fair election."
Issuing a warning, he added, "The Awami League practised the politics of bullets. This time, they will be politically erased through ballots. Some intellectuals and teachers are still provoking. Do not test our patience."
