NCP reinstates Sarwar Tushar after 2 months, withdraws show-cause notice

The National Citizens Party (NCP) has reinstated its Joint Convener Sarwar Tushar in all organisational activities, two months after suspending him over allegations of moral misconduct.
In a statement around 11:30pm yesterday (23 August), the party also withdrew a show-cause notice issued against him.
On 17 June, the party issued the show-cause notice asking Tushar to explain his position after an audio conversation between him and a woman went viral. The party had instructed him to refrain from all organisational activities until the matter was resolved.
"Sarwar Tushar submitted a written reply to the show-cause notice through the party office, addressed to the convenor, member secretary, political council, and the NCP disciplinary committee. After analysing the reply, the NCP decided to conduct a thorough observation of the matter, considering it to be an incident of entirely personal communication, in the interest of sensitivity toward the woman involved and the principle of justice," the party said in the statement.
"Following due organisational directives, Tushar remained inactive in all party activities for two months, including the July marches, representation in the National Consensus Commission, media statements, and the Narsingdi programme.
"Upon a thorough review of the incident, written explanation, and evidence, Sarwar Tushar is now reinstated in all organisational responsibilities, and the show-cause notice is hereby withdrawn," it added.
