JU seeks army deployment ahead of Jucsu polls
Authorities of the Jahangirnagar University (JU) have sought army deployment to ensure security during the upcoming Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) and hall union elections.
"The administration has taken this step to ensure security during the elections," said AKM Rashidul Alam, the election commission's member-secretary and university proctor, while speaking to reporters on Tuesday (20 August) at the office of the election commissioner.
"We have already sent an application to the army chief seeking deployment on the election day, as well as the day before and the day after."

Besides, the authorities imposed restrictions on all types of programmes, assemblies, rallies, and processions on campus ahead of the Jucsu polls.
