JCD condemns display of Salauddin Quader Chy’s photo alongside 'recognised Razakars' at DU
DU administration removed the photographs of convicted war criminals from the exhibition

Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal's Dhaka University unit has strongly condemned and protested the display of photographs of recognised Razakars during a Shibir programme at the Dhaka University Teachers-Students Centre (TSC), where a photo of BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury was also shown alongside them.
The condemnation came in a statement signed by Mallik Wasi Uddin Tami, office secretary of the DU unit of Chhatra Dal.
Notably, Salauddin Quader Chowdhury was also convicted of war crimes.
According to the statement, Islami Chhatra Shibir arranged a photo exhibition in the TSC premises in which they displayed images of certain individuals recognised as genocide collaborators (Razakars). Alongside these, they also displayed a photo of former MP Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, who was, according to the statement, a victim of mob justice orchestrated by accomplices of Awami fascism under the guise of the 2013 Shahbagh movement, and personal vendetta of the autocratic Sheikh Hasina.
The statement further said that by showcasing photos of Razakars – those involved in the genocide during the 1971 Liberation War – on the campus of Dhaka University, which is revered as the cradle of the Liberation War and where the national flag with the map of independent Bangladesh was first hoisted, Islami Chhatra Shibir has made a disgraceful and forceful attempt to legitimise their presence, and Chhatra Dal strongly rejects this with contempt.
Chhatra Dal also issued strong condemnation and protest over what it described as Shibir's vile attempt to equate the 'Uprising of 2024' with the glorious Liberation War of 1971.
The Dhaka University administration, however, removed the photographs of convicted war criminals from the exhibition.
