Jamaat calls for strict law and order, neutrality ahead of national polls
Party leaders also alleged that some government officials are working in favour of a particular party
The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has urged strict enforcement of law and order and called for full neutrality during the upcoming 13th national election scheduled for 12 February.
"We strongly demand that the Election Commission and the government take strict measures to ensure a free, fair, and neutral election, including 100% administrative neutrality and an improved law and order situation," the party said during its Central Executive Committee meeting held today (5 January) at the party's central office in Moghbazar.
The meeting was presided over by Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman.
At the meeting, the party discussed the environment of the upcoming referendum and the 13th national parliament election.
The party expressed that a free, fair and neutral election environment has not yet been created in the country.
Jamaat leaders also alleged that some government officials within the administration are working in favour of a particular party.
The new beloved Bangladesh must not be allowed to be held hostage to any plot, conspiracy or group, the party said.
They urged the Election Commission, its officials and the law enforcement agencies to engage in maintaining order to discharge their duties properly by upholding the highest neutrality without learning towards any particular party.
The party's nayeb‑e‑ameers, secretary general, assistant secretary generals and members of the Central Executive Council attended the meeting.
