Islami Andolan hold rallies across divisional cities demanding PR, 4 other points
Speakers at the rallies warned that ignoring the people's demands would never yield a good outcome.

Islami Andolan Bangladesh today (10 October) staged mass rallies in Dhaka and all other divisional cities, pressing for the acceptance of their five-point demands, including a proportional representation (PR) based national election under the July Charter.
The other demands include trial for genocide, ensuring a level playing field in elections, trial, and the temporary banning of collaborators of fascism. The rallies were part of the party's ongoing joint movement's second phase of programmes, said Islami Andolan in a press release.
In Dhaka, the rally began at Suhrawardy Uddyan after Asr prayers. Senior leaders delivered speeches at the event.
Speakers at the rallies warned that ignoring the people's demands would never yield a good outcome.
"The consequences of disregarding public demands are never good; therefore, the interim government must accept the five points, including PR," they said.
They also noted that numerous political parties have been demonstrating on the streets for months, yet the government has shown no response. "Our demands are just and logical. We are demanding justice for the murder of our sons and those who aided in those killings," they said.
They added, "The bloodshed in July demanded the permanent abolishment of autocracy from the country. To fulfil the people's demands, we are proposing the PR system so that autocracy can never return. The government's indifference to these demands is unacceptable."
The Dhaka rally was led by Syed Rezaul Karim, the party's ameer. Senior Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim, shayekh-e-charmonai, and other top leaders were also present.
The event was presided over by Joint Secretary General Sheikh Fazle Bari Masud, while Imteyaz Alam served as the chief speaker.
