Hefazat slams 'culture of making demands' while urging govt to drop 'false cases' against its members

Leaders of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh today (23 May) called for the immediate withdrawal of what they claim are "false cases" against their members — even as they criticised the ongoing "culture of making demands" continuously on the government.
They also demanded the abolition of the Women's Reform Commission, amendments to the Constitution and comprehensive reforms to the electoral and political system.
The demands were made at a rally, organised by Hefazat's Dhaka metropolitan chapter, held at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Jummah prayers.

Speaking at a rally as chief guest, the party's Secretary General Maulana Sajidur Rahman said, "The Women's Reform Commission must be abolished immediately. The false cases against Hefazat leaders and activists must be withdrawn without delay."
Meanwhile, presiding over the event, Dhaka Metropolitan chapter's General Secretary Maulana Mamunul Haque criticised the ongoing culture of placing "one demand after another," stating that such a trend would lead the country toward destruction.
He further said, "Dr Yunus has taken on the role of guardian, and our army chief is a pillar of the nation. Personal grievances should not overshadow the hopes and dreams of the people."
Addressing all political parties, Mamunul said clashes over power are inappropriate. "It is not possible to move the country forward by setting timeframes."
He also called for unity among all parties and organisations involved in the July movement.
